The assessing of nutritional and hygienic status of some grazing areas of the Mohelno Serpentine Steppe – preliminary results

  • Original language description

The poster content summarizes the first, preliminary results of the assessment of the nutrient status and some of the risky metals in the soil and the relevant above-ground biomass of nine pastoral areas intended for sheep and goat grazing in terms of maintenance and increase of biodiversity of the Mohelno serpentine steppe. As a result of the typical geopedological characteristics of the soils developed on the serpentine bedrock, a deficient content of plant-available P (<10 mg kg-1) was found within all areas, a very high Mg content and its unfavorable ratio to Ca (Ca/Mg 0.46). The reduced content of plant-available K was not confirmed. Within the meaning of Decree 153/2016, so-called preventive values of Co, Cr and especially Ni were exceeded several times within every soil areas. On the other hand, indication values (soil extract of 1M NH4NO3) were exceeded only for Ni; Cr and Co content was negligible. This unfavorable state of nutrients has been confirmed only partly by the above-mentioned biomass, especially by the unbalanced ratios between the individual macro-nutrients. In terms of the input of monitored hazardous metals into above-ground biomass, only slightly increased Ni content was recorded.
