Solution to the unavailability of old cars’ emission values for the purpose of an environmental road tax base.
Original language description
The article deals with the issue of assessment of emission values of personal road motor vehicle usable for the introduction of environmental road tax. It searches for options of theoretical emissions assessment in case of unavailability of this figure in the case of older vehicles. During the calculation of particulate emission value of old vehicles it is advisable to include only available figures of engine capacity and the year of initial registration of the car make and type. Including the frequency of vehicle registration into the model proved to be unsuitable; on the other hand, including the square-root relationship between engine capacity and emissions better corresponding with reality improved the results. Application of the above mentioned methods led to a model explaining 87% of the emission value of petrol engines and 75% in the case of diesel engines. Furthermore, the aforementioned application has defined equations for quantification of old cars emission value.
