Rotor Lock Test- H80 Turboprop Engine Extended Flight Testing
Original language description
Within the MOSTA project development phase 3/28 Flight tests – engine and subsequent certification validation of the H80 turboprop engine (out of MOSTA project), proof of continued rotor core rotation was sought. Instead of conducting an analysis, an actual engine test was conducted. The flying testbed aircraft instrumentation is described herein together with a novel probe design used for performance assessment. Key engine parameters are presented, clearly indicating that rotor lock requirements were met across the operating envelope. Enhanced engine operability is serving for the MOSTA project goals. Broader engine installation aspects are captured in earlier project publication [1].
