Coupling of Chloride Ingress, Carbonation and Mechanical Response for Durability large Scale FE Modeling

  • Original language description

In reinforced concrete structures, the reinforcement corrosion due to carbonation and chloride ingress are importantdamaging mechanisms. They can significantly reduce the service lifeof reinforced concrete structures. The paper presents a chemo-mechanical model covering initiation and propagation of chlorides or carbonationas well as resulting reinforcement corrosion. This model is combined with the nonlinear modelling of cracking, bond failure and reinforcement yielding. The details of thiscoupled multi-physicsmodel have been previously presented by the authors1.The paper will discussed the efficient application of the coupled model for large scale analysis and its application for the assessment of bridges in Germany and Czech Republic.
