COMPARISON OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF MLLDPE/LLDPE BLENDS AND MLLDPE/HDPE BLENDS

  • Original language description

n this work have been studied mechanical properties of highly filled mLLDPE/LLDPE blends and mLLDPE/HDPE blends. The LLDPE and the HDPE with high melt flow index was used as flow modifier of low melt flow mLLDPE. The blends were prepared in different ratios and each blend contained 60% .f fine powder anion exchange resin. All blends have been prepared by twin screw kneader. Prepared granulates was extruded to form of thin membrane foils which were additionally improved by heat pressing. Then the mechanical and the electrochemical properties were studied. We found the mLLDPE/HDPE blends are better processable than comparable mLLDPE/LLDPE blends. Due to high modulus of HDPE the water content of swelled membranes are lower than for LLDPE blends which results higher membrane permselectivity. Although increasing mLLDPE content decreasing modulus, the water content remains relatively constant but electrochemical resistance significantly increase.
