Measurement of current leakage in electrodialysis module
Original language description
Leakage current is the electric current which flows through the electrodialysis membrane stack and makes no efficient work for membrane ion transport. It flows out of active membrane area and decreases stack current efficiency. Moreover, it causes membrane burning. A proper method of leakage current determination is necessary assumption for improvements of membrane stack in terms of current efficiency and burning protection. This paper presents a simple method of leakage current determination based on electrical potential drop measurement in environment of known conductivity. The conditions and expected drawbacks and limitations are given. The method is demonstrated on two different designs of flow distributors
