Heterogeneous cation-exchange membranes Ralsko 1–12 and Fluor 10 (Bachelor thesis [1]) have good basic physical properties but when it comes to the electrochemical properties, measured data show, that they cannot be compared to the commercially accessible Ralex membranes, mainly because of their poor permselectivity probably caused by porous surface of the membrane, which occurred during the preparation. This study tried to improve membranes surface by pressing membranes during high temperature (130-145 °C) and reinforcing it with PES microfiber net. Final reinforced membranes were then tested for basic electrochemical properties like ion-exchange capacity (IEC), specific (RS) and areal (RA) resistivity or permselectivity (P).
