Influence of thermal and chemical treatment on transport and separation properties of hollow fibers for biogas purification
Original language description
Due to its effectivity, simple maintenance, and low power consumption in comparison with conventional separation methods, membrane technology plays an important role in gas purification industry. For industrial purposes, high surface area is needed. From various types of membrane module technology, hollow fiber membranes are offering sufficiently high surface area to volume ratio and are easily assembled in modules. On the other hand, hollow fiber membranes can be sensitive againts outer aspects e.g. higher temperatures, inconsiderate handling or contaminants in gaseous mixture. For biogas purification, two parameters are considered when picking correct fiber type and material. CO2/CH4 selectivity and CO2 and CH4 permeance or permeability.
