    The paper describes the preparation of heterogeneous ion cation exchange membranes by the method of non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS). A possible use of such membranes is electrolysis or a fuel cell. In a process of membrane preparation, there are many parameters, that need to be considered for preparation to be successful. Five factors were controlled at two levels in membrane formation. The controlled factors are these: matrix material, concentration of casting solution, casting lag and temperature of precipitation bath. We also observed their effect on membrane conductivity, structure, weight and thickness. Membranes were prepared using phase inversion casting on a glass plate. For matrix materials, we use common types of polymers. Polyetherimide (PEI) commercially known as ULTEM 1000 and Polysulfone (PSU) commercially known as Udel P-3500. For the solvents we use N-methylpyrollydone (NMP) and dimethylacetamide (DMAc). Fine milled ionex Dowex HCR S/S was dispersed in polymer solution. Concentrat
