In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, an electrolytic capacitor is disclosed that comprises an anode body, a dielectric overlying the anode body, and a conductive coating that overlies the dielectric. The conductive coating containsparticles formed from a poly(ionic liquid) and an intrinsically conductive polythiophene. In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, a method of forming a solid electrolytic capacitor is disclosed. The method comprises applying a dispersion to a capacitor element that comprises an anode body and a dielectric. The dispersion includes a solvent and particles formed from a poly(ionic liquid) and an intrinsically conductive polythiophene. Other features and aspects of the present invention are set forth in greater detail below.
