Assessment of the supplier?s capability of controlling quality is one of a range of tasks of purchase management. Quality performance of regular suppliers must be continuously monitored and control charts for attributes are often suitable for this purpose. Classical Shewhart charts cannot be used for high-yield processes with low defect rates or in cases when items are inspected one at a time. The paper deals with some techniques based on counting of the cumulative conforming items between two nonconforming ones and with techniques known as CUSUM charts. The methods are applied to monitor the quality of one of the Skoda Auto supplier?s process.
