An obstacle to developing a digital economy that appears virtually throughout the advanced economies is the question of effectively delivering digitalization efforts to small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). The aim of this research is therefore to compare the effectiveness of varying programs, aiming to promote digitalization of SMEs, from both public and private spheres. Sample countries from which data were gathered included Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Sweden. Research also utilized large scale survey within the Czech Republic where data were gathered from 60 medium-sized businesses and 180 small-sized businesses.
