Information Preferences of the Czech Public in the Field of Electromobility: What Interests them most?

  • Original language description

The article presents the results of a questionnaire survey conducted on a representative sample of 1,000 respondents from across the Czech Republic, focusing on examining the information behavior of the public in the context of electromobility. The aim of the research was to find out where people get their information about electric vehicles, what specific types of information they seek, and how their information behavior differs across age groups. The main sources of information include internet web browser (33.4%), social networks (29.5%), and dealer websites (21.9%). Significant differences are evident across the age spectrum: while the younger generation aged 18–29 prefers social networks in particular, older respondents aged 65 and over prefer personal recommendations and traditional web portals. In terms of content preferences, topics related to the technical and practical aspects of electric vehicle operation dominate. The public is most interested in battery life and replacement (54.5%), experiences and reviews from electric vehicle owners themselves (53.5%), and information on range in different conditions (48.6%). Younger people are more likely to seek information about future developments in technology and innovation in the field of electromobility, while the older generation is more focused on safety, reliability, and practical operating costs. The study thus offers a comprehensive view of how the Czech public approaches the topic of electromobility in terms of information literacy, credibility of sources, and thematic priorities. The research results can be used as a basis for formulating effective communication strategies, targeted awareness campaigns, and marketing activities aimed at supporting the transition to sustainable transport and wider acceptance of electric cars in society.
