The Židlochovice Forest Enterprise manages forests in South Moravia where an introduced North American tree species is grown. It is the black walnut (Juglans nigra L.). Although it has been grown there since the beginning of the 19th century, present oldest stands were planted about 120 years ago. The total reduced area of black walnut stands in the whole Czech Republic is about 350 ha, out of which 258 ha are to be found in the forest management unit (further on referred to as FMU) Židlochovice and therest in FMU Strážnice. Further detailed research and evaluation of these stands focus on analyses of the black walnut's growth specifications. The aim of this research is to propose new guidelines of management that would take into account both production and ecological functions of this tree species within the Židlochovice Forest Enterprise.

Czech description

V lesích jižní Moravy, které obhospodařuje lesní závod Židlochovice, je pěstován v porostech druh introdukované severoamerické dřeviny ořešák černý (Juglans nigra L.). I když se ořešák černý na jižní Moravě pěstuje od počátku 19. století, jeho současné nejstarší porosty byly založeny umělými výsadbami přibližně před 120 lety. Celková redukovaná plocha porostů ořešáku černého činí v rámci ČR přibližně 350 ha, z čehož je 258 ha na lesním hospodářském celku (LHC) Židlochovice a zbylá část na LHC Strážnice.Předmětem dalšího podrobného výzkumu a vyhodnocení těchto porostů jsou šetření růstových vlastností ořešáku černého. Cílem výzkumu je návrh nových směrnic hospodaření, které zohledňují produkční a ekologickou funkci této dřeviny v podmínkách lesního závodu Židlochovice.
