Money as an economic element and the democratic system must be understood as interpretive tools that interpret each other. In this way, the concept of truth can then be tested and applied philosophically. But if we question the intrinsic nature of money, we must go beyond shallow descriptions of its functions. We arrive at a conception of money as a functional lie, which can be demonstrated in its legal use. In doing so, Simmel?s Philosophy of Money presents the concept of money in its modern transformation. Some later theories tell us more about them.
