Alloying of Aluminum Alloys with Pure Chromium Particles

  • Original language description

This article deals with the alloying of aluminum alloys using pure metals in the form of alloying tablets or chromium alloy. When alloying aluminum alloys with metals or alloy alloys, failure to observe certain technological conditions results in insufficient dissolution of the alloying elements and their occurrence in the form of large discrete particles or clusters of particles, causing inhomogeneity of the material in a given volume. Over the past decade, alloying tablets prepared by powder metallurgy have been used instead of chromium alloy alloys in alloying aluminum alloys (e.g., AlCr4). In particular, the article continues to use chromium tablets containing pure chromium powder particles (75% tablet volume) and refining salt (25% tablet volume).
