Fractography of Al and Fe Alloys - Aircraft Accident and the Other Disasters

  • Original language description

Machines and constructions fail in operation without warning, especially in the case of fatigue cracks and often with catastrophic consequences. The collapse of bridges and buildings, the massive breakage of ships and tankers, the explosions in chemical industry factories, the disintegration of aircraft and space rockets in the past, caused by various causes, are an unforgivable and unforgettable failures of materials but also a human factor, who designed the wrong material, or improperly selected the structure, regardless of the conditions that surround the structure and the environment in which the structure will operate. The lecture is focused on the fractography of Al and Fe alloys in specific cases of aircraft accident and the other disasters. Fatigue fractures are responsible for many disasters e.g. aircraft, ships, bridges accident, and other structures, and their greatest danger lies in the fact that occurs suddenly.
