The Development of the Settlement Structure and Population in the Frontier Districts in the Ústí Region
Original language description
In the past physical geographic factors were among the deciding conditions necessary for the development of settlement structure in most parts of the Czech republic. At the present time, this fact is noticeably suppressed to the detriment of other factors, especially economical, political and social. It is possible to trace three basic stages of society development characterized by specific traits and corresponding to the stages of development of society: pre-industrial with characteristic dominant employment in the primary sector, low social mobility and development dynamics. Industrial society is characterized by the development of the secondary sector with marked dynamics. Post-industrial society, the developing tertiary sector, is characterized bystrong communication (pressure on the transportation network) and information contacts (the Internet, digital telephones).
