Specific Aspects of Teching Foreign Languages to Seniors, "students" of Universities of the Third Age
Original language description
The contribution deals with the specifics of foreign language teaching/learning process in education of the age group 55+. It focuses on the abilities of a senior to learn a foreign language, limits that the education of seniors encounters and ways to their elimination. Senior education is very important element of an individual development and a development of a society as a whole especially in the current demographical population change. Seniors are forced to learn, especially foreign languages due toa globalisation of the world. The foreign language senior education has its specifics and it is necessary to adjust it in many aspects. The text comes out of personal experience with English and German language teaching at the University of the Third Age in University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labemn and is based on PhD studies in Applied linguistics of a specific language at the Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic.
