Education and smoking issues among high school students in within Usti nad Labem Region
Original language description
The article focuses on smoking among adolescents. The survey evaluated smoking extension student attitudes and educational activities amongst 2667 students from 28 different schools in Usti nad Labem Region. For data collection we used part of czech version of European Model Questionnaire (EMQ) and other information which focuses on preventive educational activities. Results show, that tobacco in the form of cigarettes, cigars or tobacco pipe are used by more than 41% of respondents. In the last four semesters in high school 48% of boys and 46% of girls admitted to smoking. Results also showed that 24% of students do not agree with smoking 10 or more cigarettes a day. Students are told about the consequences of smoking only in classes of Health Education in high schools which does not offer systematic and preventive activities which focus on smoking.
