This study briefly outlines the reception of Comenius' work in the course of history since Comenius' death. Jan Amos Komenský, internationally known as Comenius was a Czech 17th century Brethren bishop, philosopher and educator who is celebrated especially for his timeless educational ideas and international irenic efforts, which earned him the epithet "the teacher of nations". His work was received differently in different periods in the course of history. The variety of responses to Comenius' work provide a very instructive material for studying the development educational philosophy over the pre-modern, modern and post-modern period in history.
