Original language description

The outer cover of the cocoon of T. gemmosum consists of cylindrical , aciniform and piriform silk. Products of the aciniform and piriform glands can be difficult to distinguish. The postembryo spiderling that emerges from the chorion (8.-9 day) is not pigmented; the prosoma and appendages have a translucent, jelly-like appearance. The chelicerae have a small fangs and are able to move; spinnerets are non-functional. After ecdysis (11.-12. day) the nymphal stage emerge from the egg sac. Nymphs must penetrate tightly woven silken outer cover. They accomplish this using enzymatic digestion and mastication to form a communal slit. This exit opening is situated on interface of the egg sac chamber and bundle of threads of the suspension system.

Využití hedvábí pavouky Achearanea tepidariorum (Araneae: Theridiidae) při lovu červců Planococcus citri (Homoptera: Pseudococcidae)

Czech description

Byla studována predace snovačky skleníkové Achaearanea tepidariorum (Koch 1841) na červcích Planococcus citri (Risso 1813). Byl popsán způsob lovu a vytvořen ethogram fází útoku na kořist, při kterém je několika dosud nepopsanými způsoby využíváno hedvábí tak, že jsou eliminovány účinky lepkavého voskovitého sekretu ztěžujícího manipulaci s kořistí. Je diskutována možnost využití A. tepidariorum při biologické kontrole skleníkových parazitů.
