Analysis of Plasma Treated Metallized Polymers and Conventional Polymers Modified by Various Techniques
Original language description
In this paper the summary of the research activities of our laboratory in the frame of IAEA project Controlling of Degradation Effects in Radiation Processing of polymers in 2005-2006 is presented. The research is performed at Nuclear Physics Institute of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. There are topics presented: diffusion of metals in polymer foils and metal cluster formation under plasma treatment investigated using analytical methods RBS, AFM, XPS and TEM. The second topic was the modification of LDPE and HDPE in Ar plasma to get the suitable surface for cell adhesion and proliferation. Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS) and Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis (ERDA) were employed to determine the composition and elements depth distribution of studied samples. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) was used to investigate morphology of metal surface after plasma exposure. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) gives information on metal-polymer interaction and chemical st
