The fluidity changesofneutral and negativelycharged lipid model membranescaused by maltosemodified PPI G5 dendrimers

  • Original language description

Dendrimers are symmetrically hyperbranched nano-sized polymers presenting vast potential in drug delivery applications. Drugs conjugated with dendrimers are slowly released, accumulate in tumors and have lower toxicity. Despite many advantages dendrimerswhich possess cationic groups on the surface are very cytotoxic and hemolytic. Because of that the modifications of surface groups are done but they influence on the carriers efficiency. In this work poly (propylene imine) (PPI) dendrimers of generation5 (G5) with primary amino surface groups were partially (open shell glycodendrimers - OS) or completely (dense shell glycodendrimers - DS) modified with maltose residues. As a model membranes two kinds of 100 nm diameter liposomes were used to researchdifferences in interactions between neutral (DMPC) and negatively charged (DMPC/DMPG) bilayers. Interactions were studied by fluorescence spectroscopy method. In conclusion, both OS and DS PPI G5 dendrimers show interactions with liposome
