Physical programs in prevention and treatment of somatic diseases of psychiatrically ill patienes
Original language description
Serious mental illnesses are associated with a high incidence of somatic diseases that lead to obesity and the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus. They also contribute to the complications of the circulatory system. These somatic disorders are caused by low physical activity, poor eating habits, especially eating high fat meals, smoking, as well as immediate care for oneself. The influence of medication is also insignificant. In the framework of an investigation at the Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital in Prague, a questionnaire survey was carried out in hospitalized psychiatric patients.
