Physical programs in preventioun and treatmens of somatic diseases of psychiatrically ill patiens
Original language description
Serious mental illnesses usually begin in early adulthood and are associated with high comorbidity with somatic disorders. These somatic disorders (e.g. obesity and diabetes) cause increased mortality in patients and can reduce life expectancy by up to 20%. In particular, cardiometabolic syndrome is significantly more common in people with mental disorders. Metabolic syndrome subsequently leads to the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM II) and circulatory complications. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce and develop exercise programmes in the rehabilitation of these patients.
