The relationship between the economic and social development, including its political consequences, is undoubtedly one of the most important matters to be examined by social science studies. The concept of economic development is, however, often confusedwith a different concept of economic growth. While the economic growth is an increase in production of goods and services, the economic development, together with social development, represents a multidimensional integral part of the broader concept ofthe civilization development whose main purpose is the overall improvement of the quality of human life.
