Impact of lockdowns on housing perceptions among the urban population: implications for local policies
Original language description
The study brings a comprehensive picture of how the infection threat and counter-pandemic measures affected inhabitants' perceptions of their urban environments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our results reveal that the pandemic has amplified the value attributed to 1) urban and peri-urban public and private green spaces, 2) the local availability of public services and civic amenities, 3) neighbourhood tranquillity and lower population density, 4) residential unit spaciousness, and 5) neighbourhood social relations. Certain attributes, such as green spaces, received greater emphasis from educated women, while the elderly predominantly highlighted the significance of social relations.This article was published open access under a CC BY licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/.
