Results of isotope groundwater studies in the Czech Republic
Original language description
Ground water of the hydrogeological structure in the Czech Republic was dated by isotope methods. The age can be attributed to several periods that go far to the Pleistocene, the next one to the Holocene and the last to the modern time. Ground water differing in periods of origin belongs to different hydrological cycles which vary in duration and which all still continue because the ground water of the oldest period issues to the surface at the same time with the modern water which has originated duringthe current hydrological year. Thus, when compiling the hydrological balance and evaluating ground water resources it is right to approach the various types of ground water differently. Hence, the general opinion on ground water as a renewable natural resource should be reevaluated.
