Independent Curating as a Leisure Activity: Czech artist-run spaces.
Original language description
The presentation of the long-term research of artists-curators on the Czech and Slovak scene whose activities help to develop both artistic scenes, usually in close cooperation with art universities. These are "artist-run spaces" and "off spaces," i.e. independent galleries for young artists in alternative spaces, studios or apartments that are mostly run by artists, have a flexible exhibition program and are operated at a low cost. These galleries were often created in the Czech regions where local universities opened faculties of art in the 1990s - specifically in Ústí nad Labem, Ostrava, Brno, Pilsen, Liberec and other cities. In: Supermarket. Artist-Run Art magazine. Issue#9. Pages 46-49. ISSN 2000-8155.
