The methodology of restoration of Strimice dump
Original language description
The main problem of restoration of localities of the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin is the occurrence of overburden rocks from the series of rocks of coal seams. These rocks are texturally light but large amounts of coal and sulphur which makes the soilreaction extremely acid. Representative example of these localities is the Strimice dump. The reclamation of this dump was the first large reclamation event using up-to-date reclamation processes. The dump was formed in the years 1959-1973. The originalforestry reclamation took place in 1967. With regard to severe changes of the surface zone in the dump the planting virtually died out. At the same time a great impact of erosion effects came to light. Bentonites from the Cerný vrch mine were used for technical reclamation. It was founded great area retained for natural succession in 2005 with unique vegetation and erosion effects. Situation of the Strimice dump is the topic of the paper.
