Important discoveries of petrified trees of North Western and Northern Bohemia
Original language description
Lots of unique localities of petrified trees are situated in the Czech Republic because of the geological diversity of the Bohemian Massif and the frequent occurrence of sedimentary rocks. The research of petrified trees of the Czech Republic is a main topic of this paper. The first part of the paper is dedicated to the oldest discovery of a petrified tree in the territory of the Czech state. The second part of the paper deals with present possibilities of discoveries of petrified trees in the Czech Republic. The most important discoveries are described here. The snaps of the samples are included in the article.
