Usage of public transport by elders in Brno and Bratislava: a comparative study
Original language description
Although seniors represent sizable group of population with distinctive travelling needs, we lack knowledge about their travel behaviour related to usage of public transport in the context of Central and Eastern Europe. This study aims to describe patterns of travel behaviour of senior citizens in two cities with similar size and key mobility characteristics. The first city is Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. The second one is Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Moreover, the study compares mobility needs of the elderly with existing transport infrastructure and operations in the two cities that lie circa 130 km from each other.
