Economic evaluation road pavements and low-noise pavements

  • Original language description

Laying low-noise (NH) pavements is a very effective solution because it is performed directly at the source of unwanted noise, hence it protects the whole surrounding area of the road. However, nobody has pursued the question “when” and “where” the laying of these road surfaces is economically efficient yet. The TAČR TL02000258 project is, among other things, focused on the economic evaluation of ordinary used asphalt pavements and low-noise wearing courses in the Czech Republic. Changes of acoustic parameters of road surfaces are verified by the CPX method. These parameters go to the economic evaluation through the calculation of external costs of noise affecting population according to the “Methodology of traffic noise evaluation”. Construction costs are determined based on the price list of OTSKP-SPK. From the years of experience, it can be estimated that the lifetime of ordinary wearing courses in the Czech Republic is approximately 12 years and the lifetime of low-noise wearing courses is approximately 8 years. The article discusses the comparison of low-noise wearing course SMA 8 NH with ordinary wearing course SMA 11 from the economic point of view.
