The Impact of the EU Social Inclusion Strategy: the Czech Case.

This chapter explores to what extent the European agenda of social inclusion has changed the discourse and process of policy-making in the Czech Republic in the specific field of social policy ? protection against risks of poverty and social exclusion. In the first section the authors discuss the potential of the social inclusion agenda and the Open Method of Coordination to influence the national strategy in this field. In the second section they assess the development of public and policy discourse and previously existing approach of Czech social policy to poverty and social exclusion. The third section focuses on the implementation of the social inclusion agenda in the CR. The concluding section summarizes the findings and discusses the future prospects of social inclusion agenda in the CR. Authors are also comparing the Czech case mainly with the other CEE post-communist countries in several crucial respects.
