Owing to their excellent microstructure and properties, the ledeburitic type steels made by the powder metallurgy of rapidly solidified particles are an object of interest of both the industrial enterprises and the research organisations. Presented investigations were focused to the study of processes in the near surface areas of the ledeburitic Fe ? C ? Cr ? V steel, that were induced by the nitrogen saturation. The light and electron microscopy (SEM, TEM) and local chemical analysis were used for thestructural evaluation.
