Quantized Hydration Energies of Ions and Structure of Hydration Shell from the Experimental Gas-Phase Data

  • Original language description

By through analysis of gaseuos cluster energetics data we arrived at postulating in pronciple tetracoordinated hydration for alkali metal cations and octacoordinated for alkaline earth cations. These findings agree with modern computation protocols but in addition we are able to estimate that teracoordination will apply also for heavy alkali cations as well al for one and double substituted alkylammonium cations. Pecularities for number of other cations are discussed and similar rules were found also for respective ionization potentials.

Kvantované hydratační energie a struktura hydratačního obalu z experimentálních dat v plynné fázi
