It is shown that measuring R&D can be done by several techniques but each of them will only provide approximate numbers, which will often depend on the used definition of R&D and its influence on the business results of the company. It is also shown thateven measuring the cost of R&D can be extremely complicated because multinational corporations share results of R&D produced in different countries globally.
