Micro-computed tomography characterization of isotropic filler distribution in magnetorheological elastomeric composites
Original language description
Micro-computed tomography characterization of an iron filler incorporated elastomeric composite material has been investigated. The calculated filler distribution in the elastomeric matrix employed non-destructive techniques of computed tomography using X-rays as the source of the investigation. Three-dimensional representations of filler distibution together with the amount of porosity within the volumetric zone of the material were evaluated using this technique. The overall presentation of filler distribution and self-assembled particles were analyzed in the magnetorheological composite. The magnetic coupling interaction of filler particles from the edge of the material towards the center as a function of sample height was estimated and their role in influencing the mechanical properties is discussed. The role of the magnetic pole of interaction and gravitation pull of interaction was studied as a function of filler distribution and filler arrangement within the matrix of the composite.
