The paper deals with the results of current research and application of the displacements of electronic and conventional cam systems with regard to the long-term experience in the design of the displacements of the working links of conventional cam mechanisms. Further, the view methodology of the displacement issue for both types of cams has been documented. The aim is to find out characteristic features and to define usability fields in the automation of manufacturing processes, which is a current problem.
