This chapter deals with the issue of the cam-roller-pivot system in terms of material choice. When selecting materials, it is necessary to take into account a wide range of criteria and to consider the cam mechanism as an entire system. Last but not least it is to take into account that an element can be damaged during the operation life and it will be necessary to repair a given component. Laser technology is suitable for this purpose.
