Contact mechanics in dynamics of mechanisms with flexible links
Original language description
"If two bodies come in contact they first touch at one point or along the line. If the slightest loading acts, the bodies are deformed in vicinity of the first contact point in a finite planar surface that is much smaller when compared to characteristic dimension of both bodies. The aim of the contact mechanics theory is to determine the shape of the contact area and its variation depending on the change in its load, i.e. on the size and distribution of the surface normal and tangential forces transmitted through the interface of both bodies. Further, it is possible to compute the deformation and stress components in both bodies around the contact area using this theory."
