    Design and Failure Analysis of Composite Blade for Flutter Measurements

  • Original language description

    A composite blade for experimental investigation of blade flutter was designed using topological optimization, and its load-bearing capacity was assessed through computational modal and quasi-static simulations, including a failure analysis based on Puck's failure criterion. Compared to the original steel blade, the first torsional natural frequency was significantly increased, representing an improvement of 60%. For the proposed conditions, the maximum deformation of the blade was reduced by almost 70%. The results demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the composite blade design. This result was utilized for further R&D of the composite blade and in the development of a functional sample and prototype of the blade. The end partner is the AV ČR laboratory, for which the blade is being developed for their testing tunnel.
