The influence of axial strain to the tensile strength of a tube at the tensile test.
Original language description
Traditional problems in tensile-testing of high-strength tubes occur in the failure of parts at the point of indentation made by the holding jaws. Ideally tubes under test conditions should achieve failure at the tube center and not in the jaws. The purpose of this research was to develop a simple, effective and cheap method for testing the tensile strength of high-strength steel tubes. This paper describes the results of an experimental program, used to determine the influence of additional axially from the steel tube. The project herein will evaluate the mechanical properties of the segment clamped with flat jaws. It was proposed to test segments taken axially from the tube as shown in fig. 1 Figure 1. Segment from the tube to be tested For testing, tubes from steel type 25Cr Mo4 were chosen, where it was also possible to carry out a tensile test on the whole tube. From the same tubes, samples were cut from angles a=10°-50°, see fig. 1.
