    Methods of optimisations technique

  • Original language description

This paper will give a brief overview of various optimization techniques. There are different optimization techniques that can be used to minimize the error function E(x). Which is the best will depend on the application. It is possible to divide optimization techniques in to certain categories and then to compare the categories. Three different optimization methods are discussed, simplex, steepest-descent and Fletcher-Powell methods. Before optimization techniques can be applied must be formulated in terms of mathematical relations. We can assume the problem is formulated and we wish to minimize an error function E. The error function E may depend on many variables x1, x2,.....xn and can be written as E(x), where x is a vector x1, x2,.....xn. The optimization techniques we study are formulated to minimize functions. If we want to maximize a function E(x), we can put E(x) = -E(x) and minimize E(x).
