The 10th International Conference on the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms was held at the Technical University of Liberec on 2nd ? 4th September 2008. The conference was organised under the sponsorship of IFToMM, the Czech National Committee for the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms, the Czech Mechanics Society and the Liberec Textile Machinery Research Institute and continued in the tradition of the 9 previous conferences organised at regular four-year intervals since 1973. The conference?s specialised programme covered a wide range of issues involving theoretical and practical findings from the theory of machines and mechanisms. The lectures focused primarily on the analysis and synthesis of linkages and cams, planar and spatial mechanisms, with a large part covering issues of the dynamics of machines and mechanisms, mechatronic and biomechanical systems. Ve dnech 2. ? 4. září 2008 na Technické univerzitě v Liberci proběhla X. Mezinárodní konference o teorii strojů a mechanismů. Konference byla organizována pod záštitou Českého národního komitétu pro teorii strojů a mechanismů IFToMM, České společnosti pro mechaniku a Výzkumného ústavu textilních strojů Liberec a navázala na 9 předchozích konferencí organizovaných od roku 1973 v pravidelných čtyřletých intervalech. Odborný program konference se zabýval širokým rozsahem problémů zahrnujících teoretické ipraktické poznatky z oblastí teorie strojů a mechanismů. Přednášky se soustředily zejména na oblasti analýzy, syntézy kloubových a vačkových, rovinných i prostorových mechanismů, velkou oblast zahrnovaly problémy dynamiky strojů a mechanismů, mechatronických a biomechanických systémů. Významná část konference se zabývala oblastí robotických systémů. Jednotlivé příspěvky byly recenzovány specialisty ze střední a východní Evropy.
