GMAW Fillet Weld Overwelding Solution.
Original language description
GMAW has filling character because it is based on high rate melting of a small diameter wire. That is at variance with common demand to melt the minimum amount of material and melt the material with the minimum energy input. GMA fillet welding is typicalcase of excessive input of energy and filler material to welded structure. On the contrary of hybrid solutions, this work offers advance, how to reach maximum power density of common GMAW processes and presents original methodology of fillet efficiency(or overwelding) measuring and DOE based optimization, where acceptable fillet weld of desired loaded throat size is obtained with the minimum heat input. Several sets of experiments were performed for various source-wire-gas systems and some of the comprehensive diagrams of fillet weld efficiency dependence on the base welding variables combination were presented.
