This paper deals with production systems design, and more specifically, with the integration of particular software tools into unified system architectures. The paper identifies a variety of tools, describing their functions and principles of integration. It also addresses the way this integration enables automatic generation of simulation programs. Finally, there are discussed ways in which integration can contribute to the automatic generation of different patterns of project layouts.
