Testing and parameter optimizing of automotive seat parts (geometry, design, comfort layer, headrest) are very important for safety and comfort (1), (5). Human safety depends mainly on position of the human body in teh car. There are different testing merhodologies . Euro NCAP NHTSA etx. and different testing dummies - Hbrid III,m Biorid etc. HIC factor is main safety criterion computed from head acceleraion druting crash. Main aim of ahis paper is optimization of the headrest by using FE simulations.Initial and boundary conditions in sikulations are the same as in real experiment (WHIPLASH SRA 23km/h- EuroNCAP). Optimization if geadrests are used to get higher human head safety and to decrease HSW sybdrine creation
