Original language description
Deformation and heat processes, which occur during machining, change mechanical properties of the machined machine components in a thin surface layer. This layer has a significant influence on their characteristics and life. To increase the production productivity and to reduce the volume of the process liquids, manufacturers frequently substitute the hardened steel finishing grinding operations by machining with tools with defined cutting edge geometry. In this article, we present the results obtainedfrom the research of the surface integrity of hard-ened steel gibs, which serve as guides for moving parts of chip-forming machine tools. The hardened steel gibs were milled using machines of the TOS Varnsdorf company, under different cutting condi-tions, using tools provided by five different manufacturers ? Ingersoll, Sandvik, Seco, TST (TUNGALOY) and Walter.
